If you love dogs (or cats) but are allergic to them there are quite a few breeds that are less allergenic. I came across this info site a while ago and although it is has a fair amount of relatively non obtrusive advertising (they need to maintain the site somehow) it has a huge list of dogs and links to where to get them. Dogs Good for Allergy Sufferers (An independent site not affiliated with AlerG, Inc. or it's divisions.)
Remember that even a non-shedding dog can cause allergies depending on your particular condition. You may be able to get an allergy test from a specialized allergist to see if you are sensitive to a breed you are considering.
My dog was a Sheltie, a very loyal one owner type dog who would wait for me by the door for hours till I got home. Very intelligent too, won 1st prize in his obedience class against other smart breeds 2nd prize went to a Golden Retriever. Sadly the Sheltie breed is generally not allergy friendly and it was thanks to my multiple IQAir and BlueAir purifiers (and AustinAir in less inhabited areas), non-carpeted floors, anti-dander sprays, and a central vaccum that I could tolerate keeping him.
Remember a dog should be for life. This is why I perservered despite my increasing allergies for so long with my loyal dog shown on this blog page until he passed away suddenly by what seemed almost like a heart attack, in my arms. Highly sensitive people or those who have an uncertain situation should, in my humble opinion, think it through and do appropriate research before buying or adopting a dog.

Crazy Weather Here
My February Newsletter to subscribers talked about changing weather
and how it affects us. As March came around things seemed quite warm
for a while then things went haywire. Here in Southern California it
has been quite unusual switching from cold to hot and smoggy, then
windy with occasional rain. The changes have caused me to have to use
my air purifiers and air-conditioning/heating more than normal to
cope. I am not looking forward to my next electricity bill.
I am quite sensitive to wood fireplace smoke and I thought it was
mostly over until it got cold and my neighbors started up their
fireplaces again. Rant, rant ;-)
Here is a hidden link to the February Newsletter. It is intact except
that the discount coupon has expired.
