Still Time for Dec 24th Delivery + After 24th Sale

If you need last minute gifts OR products (such as increased air purification) to help you get through the holidays, we will be able to get you IN STOCK items when placed today, Wednesday, Thursday or Friday 21st Dec. delivered by Dec 24th or earlier depending on the method of shipping you choose.

Many of our higher end Air Purifiers offer NEXT DAY AIR shipping free. (see product page to see if Next Day shipping is offered free)

Those looking for the very lowest prices and do not need delivery by the 24th Dec. Check our Hot Deals and Clearance Section after 6pm PST on Friday 21st. To be the first to get limited quantity deals at up to over 50% off. Because we can only offer that kind of discount on certain items the quantities will be limited and it will be strictly first come first served.

You've heard of Spring Cleaning but we are doing a year end cleaning out of product that has been sitting around taking up space that we need for new stock. The brand new unopened items will be in the Hot Deals section and open box items will be in the Clearance section.
(I dislike writing it this way ... makes us sound like a auto dealer ... but I can't think of a better way to put it)

I will also likely be creating a special hidden section for our best customers and readers of my blog.

Before I sign off for now I'd like to sincerely thank all our loyal customers and wish you all a wonderful Christmas, Hanukkah, Kwanzaa and Holidays. (I try to be politically correct ;-) ... personally I celebrate Christmas which is a very special time of the year for me and my loved ones.)

Fast Overnight Delivery for Gifts etc.

Avoid the crowds, searching for parking spots and give the best gifts that will be treasured year round. The gift of health!

We have been inundated with customers calling and e-mailing to check if we really can ship overnight so I decided to help clarify here while we update our website to make it much clearer.

1) If the item shows the In Stock tag and you choose Overnight delivery, you will get it the next business day as long as you order before the cutoff time of 6pm EST (3pm PT) OR see 2

2) This also applies if it is In Stock and the STILL SHIPPING today tag shows in the Add to Cart box. We can offer this because we actually get shipping pickups several hours after the cutoff and if we are caught up we can keep shipping even after 6pm EST.

3) If you have been to the page before, click refresh on your browser to ensure that you are not looking at old information that has been cached.

4) Next day does not mean Saturday Delivery if ordered on Friday, however, Saturday delivery IS available. The easiest way is to say Deliver on Saturday in the extra instructions area when checking out (Next Day Delivery required and possible surcharge may apply). Many items such many of our Air Purifiers offer FREE Overnight shipping.

As a online shopper myself I understand how important it is to get a Gift on time for the holidays. So please be assured that we do everything we can to make sure it gets to you fast and on-time.

To ensure you get the order confirmation please add orders@alerg.com or even better our entire domain alerg.com to your e-mail allowed list. Some spam blockers may automatically block/delete the e-mail and we do not always have time to personally unblock the e-mails request from some of the spam blockers that require a person to go in and unblock it.

Note that the UPS or FEDEX tracking number may not give up to the minute tracking information. Usually there is a several hour delay before the actual location of your package is shown by FEDEX or UPS. This is something that is out of our control. However, if you see that it has been picked up by the truck, your order IS on it's way.

Happy Holidays and I hope you will consider us for your holiday shopping or for solutions to deal with guests visiting over the holidays.

Back to Normal for a While

I just wanted to let everyone know that the weather, fire and smoke is cooperating and the rush by local customers to buy air purifiers and related products has reduced to the point we can start catching up.

I sincerely apologize for any delays to customer service responses.

There is speculation/expectation by many respected local newspapers such as the LA Times that the winds will pick up again this weekend and blow smoke back to the coastal areas.

If you live locally please consider purchasing a good air purifier early before the weekend rush. We have brought a large number of the most effective air purifiers but even those are low in stock.

Even if we are lucky and do not get hit with the smoke, an air purifier will help your health year round nationwide. Be aware that not all air purifiers actually are capable of removing smoke efficiently. Some air purifiers (not sold by us) are actually harmful, particularly those that use high levels of ionizing which produce Ozone.

Ozone (O3 unstable oxygen molecule that want to lose the 3rd oxygen atom by oxidizing - combining - killing whatever it meets) in the air you breathe is often quite misunderstood. It is like gaseous bleach, a strong oxidizer, the EXACT opposite of Vitamin C, E etc which are ANTI-oxidants.

Thanks for reading.

We Are Ok from WildFires- Air purifiers in stock.

I wanted to inform everyone that AlerG, Inc. is in no danger of the wildfires in Southern California. I realized that some of our customers and suppliers were worried when I saw e-mails and was told about calls.

We are in an area that is safe from fires. The only thing that people here suffer from is the smoke depending on the direction of the wind.

The best news is that we were able to aquire several palletts of probably the last of the stock of high quality (hospital quality) air purifiers. Due to the large volume of walk in customers we are swamped and have put our priority for the next few days on handling air purifier orders and inquiries

Please be assured that ALL orders are being shipped out as normal. It is simply the time consuming customer service e-mails and calls that we are unable to respond to as quickly as we normally do.

If you have an urgent inquiry please be sure to indicate as much information, ideally a copy of the order or if it is a call to our express call center which is now also taking messages. Please give them enough information for us to prioritize responses. We get many messages that simply say "need more information."

Please understand that our priority right now is to help those who are suffering badly from the smoke inhalation. Things will return back to normal when the fires stop. I sincerely apologize for the inconvenience. Thanks. David

Fires in Southern California

Some of you have probably heard about the terrible fires fanned by the strong winds. The smoke is quite bad even here in Costa Mesa and Newport Beach. I had to shut all my doors and windows tightly and run all my air purifiers on High. This kept the smoke at bay to the point I could sleep without waking up ill.

We have had the most incredible run of high end air purifiers locally and I have had to work with our suppliers to get stock replenished fast. I personally talked to many customers today as they came in to buy air purifiers. Several were suffering personally or were buying for their asthmatic/allergic children who were in great distress.

The only thing I can say is I am glad I could help them. We still have some available for pickup or overnight shipment. If the tag on our website says In-Stock we can ship the same day. Anyone, looking to pick up an IQAir unit in person which in my opinion is probably the best for people very sensitive to smoke should call first.

We are going out of our way to rent a truck to pick up several pallets tommorrow morning Tuesday Oct 23 which means we can ship same day, but in person pickups will not be available till the afternoon.

People who are not very sensitive can consider Blueair (next best for smoke and quieter) or AustinAir which is ideal for those who are only moderately sensitive.

We apologize for the inconvenience. For those out of this area not having this issue, please consider buying a good air purifier before a situation like this occurs. Even the American Lung Association suggests pre-empting the situation.

Happy Independence Day

I would like to wish you all a happy Independence Day. Let us remember this day for what it really is, the celebration of independence from British rule. By all means please have fun, parties and fireworks. Just spare a moment to remember what we are partying about and remind our kids too.

It it a bittersweet time for me because as an American I celebrate this date for my country and thank the many men who put their lives on the line to achieve this. It is also the day my beloved dog Laddie died after 11 years of devotion. I remember the sound of fireworks outside as Laddie started to act strange and then died in my arms from what seemed like a heart attack.

I call today Independence Day because I feel it has a dual meaning. Allergies to my dog had been getting worse yet I could not even bear the thought of parting with him. So I used technology to attempt to keep the allergies at bay. Air purifiers, allergen neutralizing sprays, dust mite covers, central vacuum and no carpets were amongst the techniques I used and for the most part it worked. However, it was getting worse and being a long haired breed (Sheltie) that shed as well as hated water and baths, it was an uphill battle. It is my belief Laddie wanted to give me independence.

I believe that the experience has helped me learn how to help others cope. I did find that there were ways to handle the allergies to my dog.

Today -two years later I can tolerate dogs, (cats and other pets) for short periods, but if I am not careful and they lick my hands then I touch my face I invariably start to swell up or itch. Breathing is also difficult if there isn't enough ventilation or air purification.

I am researching less allergenic dog breeds. Just like grass, pollen etc. which people vary in sensitivity to depending on the species, there are some dog breeds that potentially I may be able to tolerate.

So have a Independence Day and believe if there is a will there is a way!

Message of Hope

I recently received this quote from my Father. It was by Mother Teresa and I felt it was inspiring and a little humorous and wanted to share it with you.

"I know God will not give me anything I can't handle. I just wish that He didn't trust me so much." Mother Teresa

I don't consider myself anywhere close to her league of greatness, but I think this message can apply to many people suffering from allergies, MCS and other personal issues no matter what faith or denomination you are from.

Looking back I can see how it has applied to my own life and still does. I hope passing it on here helps bring a smile or a ray of hope to someone out there.

Upgrading Phone System

I am happy to announce that we are in the process of upgrading the AlerG phone system. Our old system, although quite high end, was lagging in features compared to what many of you may be used to. Our phone ordering and phone customer service is still fully operational during this upgrade except for a few minor annoyances which you may or may not encounter.

There are 2 known issues which we are in the process of fixing. - these issues do not affect internet orders or e-mail which are on a completely different system.

1) silence after you have made a selection of one to more than 5 seconds before you hear a message saying you are being transferred or music on hold. (Keep holding and you will get through)

2) an occasional "this line is temporarily disconnected" message when dialing our 714 or 888 number (all physical lines are being used, call back and you will likely get through)

These issues tend to occur more often during peak hours. Please rest assured that they are not critical problems just annoyances and I sincerely apologize.

Solutions:
1) If you have the patience to hold through the silence you will eventually be connected. (The new system handles ext. numbers of up to 5 digits and is waiting for all the digits to be entered even if you press a single digit ext. such as 5 for directions , this is a configuration/programming issue that should be solved soon.)

2) If you get (2) it means all available lines are being used and you have been rolled over into a "catch all message". Just call again, our testing has shown that often redialing right away will get you through.

Improved Shopping Security

We have finalized security improvements to make our site more compatible with Internet Explorer 7+ .

Despite the extreme difficulty and cost to implement we now, use the most secure encryption available for when logged in to your account or checking out. VeriSign SSL High Grade 256 Bit Encryption with Extended Validation.

You can also use encryption during casual browsing if you add an "s" to the "http" ie. https://www.AlerG.com/safeshopping.html
This may slow normal browsing down a bit since everything sent/received has to be encrypted.

Verisign required considerable "verification" from us to make the upgrades. This in my opinion was annoying but a good thing since it makes the upgrade more secure.

Why Verisign SGC: Strongest Encryption for the Most Visitors
Companies, governments and public institutions worldwide trust VeriSign to secure their sites and protect their brands.

  • SGC-enabled SSL Certificates provide 128- or 256-bit encryption to over 99.9% of Web site visitors, including the tens of millions who use certain older versions of Windows and Internet Explorer. AlerG uses 256-bit - more secure. ... And pricey for us. ;-)
  • VeriSign secures more than 500,000 Web servers worldwide, more than any other Certificate Authority.
  • The world’s 40 largest banks and 93% of Fortune 500 companies choose VeriSign SSL Certificates.
Note: we have found that a small number of IE 7 users may get an error message when switching to secure mode. This is due to incorrect or unfinished IE setup, not upgrading to the latest IE version or some other issue. Do not worry, just click on the PADLOCK symbol and verify that you are on www.alerg.com. As long as the PADLOCK symbol appears somewhere in your browser and/or you have https showing you are encrypted.

Currently this message only sometimes appears on IE7, older versions of IE, Firefox, Netscape, and Opera do not appear to have the issue.

Monthly Newsletter Out Soon

My monthly newsletter is going out soon. If you want to receive it please sign up on our website. The Topic for April will be "Choosing the Right Air Purifier for Your Allergies".

The levels of pollen and smog is in the air is skyrocketing and I am hearing through my staff (and random monitoring of customer e-mails) that a simple explanation of how to help spring/summer allergies or chemical sensitivities via the newsletter might be helpful. There are so many options it can be overwhelming. My suggestions are from years of personal testing and research. I will be covering home, office and car/commuting air purification.

I will also be covering the basics of a "safe room" and a few other related topics.

If you have signed up in the past or are unsure, just sign up again. Duplicates are automatically removed. Please be sure to add the appropriate e-mail to your spam filter if you have one. If we have been tagged as spam accidentally or automatically in the past you will have been removed from the list.

AlerG Blog Information Updates

I have researched a few Blog systems that we can host on our servers and we will be moving them soon. The benefits are:

  • faster page loading
  • privacy policy consistent with AlerG (Better Business Bureau Privacy) --note: as far as I can tell all current "external" Blog tools such as the e-mail delivery RSS feeds etc. do not sell or rent your e-mail or personal information. If you are concerned visit blogger.com , Feedburner.com and read their privacy policy.
  • easier to remember URLs -- something like DavidsBlog.AlerG.com, PrBlog.AlerG.com
  • better tools to make using our Blogs easier and for power users more effective
We will be doing our best to ensure that the current RSS feeds and e-mail deliveries will not change so you don't have to wait.

What is Feedburner.com? This is a tool that we use to make it easy for you to subscribe. It converts all the various versions of feeds to one that you can use. When you click on the RSS icon it will take you to a page that gives you IMHO too many options - from Yahoo to AOL. I suggest you try each until you find one that work for you. Personally, I use the Google one.

SpringWidgets is a "Widget" or code that you can embed in your website to automatically feed information from us without you lifting a finger.

One thing that has bothered me. If you have successfully installed the RSS feed icon on your browser, it only lists one news article at a time in a list. If you click on it you will only see that one article. To see more simply click on the date range on the left. (this was tested on the Google feed in Firefox other browsers and feeds may act differently.)

Upcoming AlerG Blog Improvements

I am happy to announce that AlerG.com will be making improvements to our blogging system in the next few weeks.

We will be splitting AlerG blogs into several different versions:

  • this one which is a personally written blog
  • a "Corporate" blog that can be used for news sites - similar to press release style
  • a special offer blog - for those who want news on special offers (for themselves) or to put on their site as an RSS feed
  • affliate specials blog - to allow affiliates quick access to affiliate only deals (automatic updates if RSS enabled)
'
What the RSS feed icon looks like.

In addition I will be writing a simplearticle on how to use RSS feeds. In theory you can create an entire web page that has content automatically fed from RSS feeds created by other people. This RSS feed is useful for allergy/MCS informational sites as well as affiliate sites. Have fresh content written by other people. How nice is that.

I am also experimenting with different hosting systems. This blog is for the most part hosted by blogger.com or blogspot.com which is a division of Google. In order to increase load speed we will be hosting most of the content on our own dedicated servers soon. Some of the images are already hosted on our servers.

Please feel free to comment on this and other articles. I welcome your feedback although I respectfully ask that you keep the discussion cordial. Any profanity or blatant advertising comments or spam will be deleted.

Happy Easter Sunday - and Allergy Tips

For those of you who celebrate Easter Sunday whether at home or at Church, I would like to wish you blessings and give you some tips on how to handle the scents and/or allergens that might be present.

If you are not religious or are of another faith, these tips can still help in any other public place.

I have a hard time going to places like Churches and Malls due to the high number of people wearing perfume and cologne which makes me ill, if not immediately, the next day. When I know I have to go, I prepare before by taking an extra dose of vitamins and minerals (within suggested limits). I try and find a spot with good ventilation and if by any chance someone I cannot tolerate sits next to me I will make an excuse to move if it is possible.

When I return, I immediately shower, change clothes and often use the Grossan Hydropulse to flush out my nasal passages.

The difference it makes in my well being is quite significant. If I forget or am unable to shower and change right away, there is a high correlation between that and the frequency of feeling ill within the next 24 hrs or so.

If you don't have the ability to change and shower soon after exposure but are aware that such exposure tends to make you ill, there are a few short term solutions:

  • Keep moving (walking around) so that breathing in the absorbed scents in your hair and clothing are minimized
  • Place a small directional air purifier to keep a constant clean airflow around the place you sit. A small portable or battery powered fan can also help.
  • Wear a cap, hat or scarf over your hair - (hair is porous and absorbs scents very quickly)
  • Wear a mask that is appropriate for the stuff you are sensitive to. Pollen and dust typically only requires a particle mask, carbon masks are required to reduce scents.
Note: Due to automatic scent desensitizing after a period of exposure, you may not notice the residual smell of the stuff you are breathing until it is too late and you start feeling ill.

YMMV (your mileage may vary) - meaning that you may have to experiment to see what works best for you.

I wish you a wonderful day and hope this information may help you or a loved one in some small way.

CEO Reveals Hidden Meanings in Name and Logo

If you haven't already guessed, there is quite a bit of hidden meaning in our name and logo design. "AlerG" if read with the capital G emphasized sounds like "allergy".

The short name is a reflection of our philosophy which is to minimalize allergens and unnecessary chemicals - though the use of purifiers, products that are non-allergenic, sealants and paints that reduce or eliminate the amount of allergens or toxic chemicals that we are exposed to.

The URL has fewer letters to type. The logo is an eye with a tear and the background is a mountain. this can be interpreted many ways. The teary eye is a typical symptom of hayfever, it can also represent the pain we allergy or chemical sensitivity sufferers are going through.

The mountain represents clean air and water, but can also represent the hurdles we have to deal with. Mountains are also considered a protective image in many cultures.

AlerG Launches Fundraising Division

I am happy to announce that AlerG, Inc has partnered with Fast Track Fundraising, Inc to provide Charity Groups, Churches and Religious Organizations, Schools and other organizations or people needing money (including yourself or your loved ones), with an effective, no upfront cost way to raise funds.

My primary purpose for forming this wholly owned division of AlerG, Inc. is to help people who have tapped their funds to the point they cannot afford the necessary products and treatment for their Allergies or Environmental sensitivities. However, we do not prevent organizations or individuals from using the site to raise money for other purposes.

The amount of money that can be raised is quite significant, see just a few of the actual results below (the total raised by the various groups and individuals is in the millions of dollars).

Little or no investment other than your organization's time is required. This plan works with individuals to groups of over 200+ people. It is one of the very few plans that allow you to start immediately by signing up online and/or downloading the forms. (I personally dislike plans that require you to wait days for a package to arrive or have to call and be "telemarketed")

Nevertheless, if you prefer the traditional method you can call and speak to a live person who can help you through the process.

Click on one of the following links to reach the site. (they all go to Funds.AlerG.com we have multiple addresses just to make it easier for you to remember)
funds.AlerG.com
AlerGfunds.com
allergyfundraising.com
allergymoney.com
mcsmoney.com

This is an initial launch and is in constant development to make it most effective for your particular organization or needs. Everything should be working.

Just a few groups that have raised money though this fund raising program :
Ddjc Civilian Welfare Fund Fundraised $3,500.00
Cub Scout Pack 211 Fundraised $4,625.00

This division will be announced and promoted via the AlerG site and other major press media soon. Readers of my Blog are getting a sneak preview.

This fund raising program is active and you can start fund raising immediately.

Less Allergenic Dogs

If you love dogs (or cats) but are allergic to them there are quite a few breeds that are less allergenic. I came across this info site a while ago and although it is has a fair amount of relatively non obtrusive advertising (they need to maintain the site somehow) it has a huge list of dogs and links to where to get them. Dogs Good for Allergy Sufferers (An independent site not affiliated with AlerG, Inc. or it's divisions.)

Remember that even a non-shedding dog can cause allergies depending on your particular condition. You may be able to get an allergy test from a specialized allergist to see if you are sensitive to a breed you are considering.

My dog was a Sheltie, a very loyal one owner type dog who would wait for me by the door for hours till I got home. Very intelligent too, won 1st prize in his obedience class against other smart breeds 2nd prize went to a Golden Retriever. Sadly the Sheltie breed is generally not allergy friendly and it was thanks to my multiple IQAir and BlueAir purifiers (and AustinAir in less inhabited areas), non-carpeted floors, anti-dander sprays, and a central vaccum that I could tolerate keeping him.

Remember a dog should be for life. This is why I perservered despite my increasing allergies for so long with my loyal dog shown on this blog page until he passed away suddenly by what seemed almost like a heart attack, in my arms. Highly sensitive people or those who have an uncertain situation should, in my humble opinion, think it through and do appropriate research before buying or adopting a dog.

Crazy Weather Here

My February Newsletter to subscribers talked about changing weather
and how it affects us. As March came around things seemed quite warm
for a while then things went haywire. Here in Southern California it
has been quite unusual switching from cold to hot and smoggy, then
windy with occasional rain. The changes have caused me to have to use
my air purifiers and air-conditioning/heating more than normal to
cope. I am not looking forward to my next electricity bill.

I am quite sensitive to wood fireplace smoke and I thought it was
mostly over until it got cold and my neighbors started up their
fireplaces again. Rant, rant ;-)

Here is a hidden link to the February Newsletter. It is intact except
that the discount coupon has expired.
http://www.alerg.com/newsletters/07-02-22_NewsletterFebruary.html

If you like it consider signing up. Feel free to forward the link to
anyone you think can benefit from the information.

David's AlerG -Allergy MCS Blog

Hello Everyone,
I finally started blogging to make it faster to update news about AlerG.com . Some of this content will eventually be put somewhere on our main website
http://www.alerg.com/index.html
by our staff but it might take a while.
